Tempe, AZ - Northern Illinois University was the first baseball team from the state of Illinois to take to the diamond in 2006 and nearly pulled off a shocking upset at No. 10 Arizona State Friday night. The Huskies clawed back with a three-run eighth inning rally and threatened again in the ninth before the Sun Devils held on for a narrow 5-3 win. ASU, who finished third at last year's College World Series, improved to 3-1 on the young season. Game two of the series is Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. (2 p.m. DeKalb time) with Nick Hall slated to take the hill for the Huskies.
