WestConn football gets win over Mount Ida The Western Connecticut State University football team ended its season with a bang, as it breezed to a 40-7 victory over Mount Ida College. With the victory, the Colonials improved their overall mark to 6-4. Western Connecticut racked up 427 yards of total offense. Senior quarterback Joe DiMeglio, of Bethel, figured in on all six touchdowns for the Colonials, passing for four and running in two others. He finished the day with 295 yards on 14-of-20 passing. Classmate Vincent Sheperis totaled five receptions for 165 yards. He was on the receiving end of three of DiMeglio’s four touchdown passes. DiMeglio finished off the rout with a pair of 40-yard touchdown tosses. He found junior Kerry Perotta and Sheperis to give Western Connecticut a 40-7 lead at the intermission. Neither team scored in the second half, and the Colonials left with their sixth win of the year.
