Angry parents want Shelby schools chief fired - Jackson Clarion Ledger
SHELBY — Discontent in the northwest Mississippi town of Shelby is as thick as a curtain of falling autumn leaves.A steep drop in test scores at the town's schools — and a possible state takeover of the 891-student North Bolivar school district — have area residents so riled that some are calling for the superintendent's ouster.A teacher at the local high school has staged his own silent protest by parking his truck in front of the high school with signs on it that say, "New superintendent — Smith must go."
