Not all fee-paying pupils take the national tests at 11 on which the value-added calculations are based, so only a minority of independent schools had the necessary data. However, of those that did, more than 50 recorded a value-added score of at least 1,048, which indicates that, on average, pupils scored a grade higher in each of their eight best subjects at GCSE than their attainment at 11 would have predicted.
