Gadsden to benifit from $500,000 grant. - Gadsden County Times
Tallahassee Community College has again stepped up to the plate to help Gadsden County. Workforce Florida, Incorporated, the state's chief workforce policy organization, is providing $500,000 in funding for the Beacon Project spearheaded by TCC. The project is a two-year collaboration among TCC's Division of Economic and Workforce Development, Florida A & M University and the Gadsden County Chamber of Commerce. Beacon Project will be identifying businesses and individuals to focus economic development assistance and workforce training. The project will be looking at small businesses and ways to help them improve their performance, and providing training for their employees. In addition, the project will also look at ways to attract new business to Gadsden County. Plans are to provide short-term vocational training for job seekers with in-demand skills making them ready for employment. All services provided by the project will be free of charge. "This is an exciting project for Gadsden County," Gadsden County Chamber of Commerce executive director David Gardner said. Gardner added that, as the county continues to grow, the need for skilled employees will continue to rise.
