Deciding what to do after high school can be difficult, but Ian Froese has no doubts. He wants to attend a Christian college. “It’ll help me get closer to God,” the Grade 12 student from Boissevain said yesterday. Froese and dozens of other young people were at the McDiarmid Drive Alliance Church last night, where recruiters from Christian colleges and universities from across North America came to woo prospective students. It’s part of a nationwide tour known as the Christian College and University Fairs. Attending a Christian post-secondary school is much like attending any other college or university, according to Joy Lise of Providence College and Seminary, with one key difference. “The main point is to grow in your faith,” she said. “And another significant way in which we’re different is we have community outreach, where we volunteer within the community.” Along with Providence College in Otterburne, there are three other Christian post-secondary schools in Manitoba — Steinbach Bible College and Canadian Mennonite University and Booth College, both in Winnipeg.
