Olympic ambitions drive local sailor - Santa Cruz Sentinel
Brad Nieuwstad wanted to get his career started. Instead of going back to school, he went sailing. Nieuwstad, a 21-year-old Finn boat sailor from Santa Cruz, was in the middle of the spring semester at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo when he decided not to return in the fall.
