Beware of Geeks bearing basketballs - North County Times
New teams come in, size them up and suddenly get overconfident.And then the domination begins.On Tuesday night, the Phatballs became the Geeks' latest victims, as they were handed a 90-55 setback. It was the Geeks' (3-2) third straight victory."They see a little hairline issues or waistline issues," Kennedy says with a laugh. "And by the end of the game, they're in for a shock. We play good solid team basketball."That would qualify as an understatement.Since their inception nine years ago, the Geeks have won 24 of 27 San Marcos Adult Basketball League championships against solid competition.Many of the league's teams are filled with former high school, junior college and collegiate players.The original Geeks, and their newer, younger teammates, are just as talented ---- and they have age and experience on their side.Houle, 47, "the league's official oldest guy," won a New Hampshire state high school title in 1974 with Manchester Central High.
