News in brief - Aspen Times
By Aspen Times Staff October 17, 2005 Print Email The Theater Masters Aspiring Playwrights Competition invites students in grades seven to 12 throughout the Roaring Fork Valley to submit 10-minute plays by Oct. 22. The winning playwrights will receive a $250 prize and get the chance to work with a professional director in a workshop production of their play (or plays, since multiple entries are permitted from each student). Playwright Alfred Uhry, best known for the stage and screenplay "Driving Miss Daisy," will judge the entries. The winning plays will then be staged in Aspen and at the Colorado Mountain College Spring Valley Campus, as part of Theater Masters' "Take Ten" program, in early February. Executive director Julia Hansen founded Theater Masters in 2001. Call 948-9484 for more information.
