Gordy, Darton golfers win four fall tourneys - Northeast Georgian
The Cavaliers captured a pair of tournaments in September, winning the Atlantic Intercollegiate and the Hurricane Classic.At the Atlantic Collegiate, which was played in Greenwood, S.C., Gordy earned second-place individual honors with a two-day total of 140, leading Darton to a 569 total and a 23-stroke win.Gordy had rounds of 70 on both days, finishing just one stroke off the tournament lead. Witcher was next, finishing at 141.Darton College opened the fall season by winning the Hurricane Classic at Georgia Southwestern State University. The Cavaliers led the two-day competition from start to finish and outdistanced Flagler College by 18 strokes.Gordy started the season in style, winning medalist honors with a two-round total of 135. He opened with a round of 70 but posted a 65 in the second round to hold off Witcher for individual honors. Witcher, who had a 64 in the second round, finished two strokes back at 137.Gordy, Witcher and Ryan Wilson, who finished at 141, all earned spots on the All-Tournament team.Gordy and Darton College have one tournament left on the fall schedule - Oct. 31 at the Cleveland State Community College Fall Invitational in Cleveland, Tenn.
