powered by FreeFind --> --> E-mail a friend | Printer Friendly ALERT: Polk County is 26th with soybean rust in Georgia 10/16/2005 -- Soybean rust was reported in Polk County, Georgia, on Friday, Oct. 14, “further confirming that rust has reached our northern production regions,” the state soybean rust coordinator said. “Finds of soybean rust continue to arrive from samples submitted by county agents,” said Bob Kemerait, Extension specialist with the University of Georgia. Polk County, the 26th in the state with rust, is on the western border of Georgia, about five counties down from the northwest corner of the state. The find is now the northern-most soybean rust location in Georgia. Kemerait also said that soybean rust was confirmed on two additional soybean samples from commercial fields in Macon County where chlorothalonil had been sprayed once this season. “Rust is now severe in these two fields,” he said.
