Governor Perdue Announces Executive Appointments ATLANTA (Occt. 17)- Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following executive appointments. Board of Corrections Bruce A. Hudson, 76, Douglasville, GA, Eighth Congressional District Representative (REAPPOINTMENT) - Hudson is the president of Exxell Developers, Inc. and Land Sales, Inc., both of which purchase land for development purposes. He has been serving on the state Board of Corrections for over ten years. Hudson and his wife, Janice, have one son. R. Carlton Powell, 67, Thomasville, GA, Second Congressional District Representative (REAPPOINTMENT) - Powell has served as sheriff of Thomas County since 1977. Previously he served in the United States Air Force with the Air Police Squadron. Powell is a member of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, the County Officers Association and the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association. He earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice from South Georgia College and is a graduate of the National Sheriffs’ Institute in Los Angeles.
