Melissa Bell is the weekend meteorologist for CBS4 News on CBS4, forecasting the weather on Saturdays at 6:00AM, 6:00PM and 11:00PM and on Sundays at 6:00AM, 11:00AM, 6:30PM and 11:00 PM. Bell is a member of the American Meteorological Society and holds the Seal of Approval.Bell joined CBS4 in May 2001 from the CBS affiliate WBTV-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina where she was the meteorologist for WBTV’s weekday morning newscasts since 1998. She loved the challenge of forecasting for a region which extended from western mountains, including Mt. Mitchell, the highest mountain in the eastern US, to the Carolina coastal plain. It was not unusual for the western Carolinas to experience wild weather from hurricanes to ice and snow storms. She was also actively involved with local schools to promote severe weather awareness and encourage young girls to pursue careers in the sciences.Before joining WBTV in Charlotte, Bell worked at WALA-TV (Fox) in Mobile, Alabama as meteorologist for the station’s morning and noon broadcasts from 1996 to 1998.
