Trojans lose twice on the road - Troy State University Tropolitan
Michael Rodgers, staff writer posted on Feb. 2, 2006 After a three-game Sun Belt winning streak, the Troy men’s basketball team lost both their conference games this week. First, the Trojans fell 84-77 to North Texas at The Super Pit in Denton, Tex. Senior point guard Bobby Dixon accounted for six of Troy’s first eight points, hitting two three-pointers to put the Trojans ahead 8-6. Junior Boo Ramsey also hit two consecutive three-pointers later in the first half, putting Troy up by two. However, North Texas’s Calvin Watson answered with a three of his own, followed by a lay-up from Quincy Williams. With the Mean Green leading by three and 9:38 left in the first half, freshman Daryl Davis was fouled on a three-point attempt and converted all of his free throws to tie the game. For the rest of the half, North Texas pulled away and led by as many as 13 points, which was also the margin at halftime. When the second half began, the Mean Green continued to score, pulling away to a 21-point lead.
