--> First page > Algarve News > News Vila Sol Spa & Golf Resort launches painting and sculpture competition Deadline for entries is 30th November Two competitions which aim to uncover new young artistic talent in Portugal are being launched by the Vila Sol Spa & Golf Resort. One is a painting competition entitled "Summer in the Algarve", and the other is for budding young sculptors, entitled "Vila Sol Trophy", in which entrants are asked to create a trophy for the resort to use at sports events. These contests are open to final year students at Portuguese art and design schools, and the closing date for entries is 30th November. Three prizes will be awarded in both competitions - first prize is 5000 euros, second, 3000 euros and third, 1500 euros. The jury is made up of representatives from the art course at Algarve University, from the São Lourenço Cultural Centre and from the Centro de Arte Vila Sol/Fundação Oriente. In the painting competition, entries must measure 2m x 2.5m. In what concerns the trophy competition, the design proposals must be accompanied by a scale model and explanatory notes.
