To be me, you don't."So when it comes to facial piercings, not everyone agrees on what's appropriate. Some say they don't care what anybody else thinks, but when that "anybody else" is an employer, piercings could affect one's ability to get a job.Steve Crary said he doesn't mind facial piercings personally, but as he oversees hiring for the Sioux City Community School District, he has to consider what's acceptable to society as a whole."In this district, no matter what position you have, you’re going to interact with kids, and we expect you to be a role model," he said.As for where he draws the line on facial piercings, Crary said that's a difficult question."There's no matrix that says, 'If you have this, OK. If you have this, it's not OK.'"But generally speaking, Crary said society right now can accept earrings for both men and women. He said people aren't quite ready for other piercings like those through the nose, eyebrow or tongue. "This will probably shift," he said. - more available
