Magazine ranks NT fifth - North Texas Daily
January 24, 2006 Hispanic Business magazine ranked the NT Health Science Center’s Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine as the fifth school in the nation for Hispanics last year. NT fell just behind top medical schools such as Johns Hopkins University and Stanford University. The magazine awarded NT for the first time in its September 2005 education report, but it is not the first time the Health Science Center has received national recognition. NT was recognized by U.S. World News & Report as one of the top 50 medical schools in the nation for primary care. “We’re different,” said Bruce Dubin, associate dean of academic affairs at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. “We have many unique things within our curriculum from those around the state and around the country. There is a strong humanistic component, and we put a stronger emphasis on primary care than others around the state.” The magazine based its decision on several factors, but according to Joel Daboub, the college’s director of admissions, the school’s implemented outreach programs impressed judges the most.
