And from that genre, this state has produced two kings: B.B. and Elvis.Mississippi has paved the way in education, women's rights and in the medical field. For example, Mississippi College, in Clinton, was the first co-educational college in the United States to grant a degree to a woman. Mississippi University for Women was the first state college for women in the nation, established in Columbus in 1839.
