Local Lawmaker Hopes to Change the Rules for X-Ray Technicians( Air Date: 2/3/2006 ) In the state of Missouri you need a license to cut hair, but you don`t need a license to shoot ionizing radiation through people.That`s why some lawmakers want to change the rules of the technology better known as x-ray.Radiology student Jessica Koop practices taking a chest x-ray on fellow student Emily Supple. Students say x-rays are an art and their images reveal important infomration for doctors."There are different densities and colors to an x-ray. A lot of them are black and white," Supple says."If you take an x-ray that`s just a little bit too dark or a little bit too light, you might miss the tumor or the fracture," Dr. Rob Schaaf, (R) 28th District representative, says.State Representative and family-practice doctor Rob Schaaf is proposing a bill that he says will help ward against mistakes.
