No progress in resolving transit strike - Daily Inter Lake
The Daily Inter Lake Officials from Flathead County and the Eagle Transit drivers union met Wednesday, but the union strike continued Thursday.The Eagle Transit drivers have been on strike for higher pay since Oct. 5.Mike Pence, county administrative officer, said nothing resulted from Wednesday's meeting. He said there was no movement from either side. "It was a cordial meeting," he said.Pence said he would wait to hear from the union about meeting again."If they do, we would be glad to meet," he said.Buses continue to run with temporary drivers, but normal service has not been restored.Cheryl Talley, program manager at Eagle Transit, said the transit service is still offering dial-a-ride in Kalispell. Riders should call 758-5728 a day ahead to ensure a ride."We're offering a modified city [Kalispell] route," she said.The transit service continues to provide regular service to Flathead Valley Community College. Buses stop at 7:45 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. five days a week.Talley said Columbia Falls and Whitefish bus service is under review."We're training up there today and tomorrow," she said Thursday.The county's advertisement for temporary drivers drew some response.However, Talley said she still has openings.Teamsters Local No. 2 continues to maintain a picket - more available
