Fans miss another good Nevada game - Lahontan Valley News
THOMAS RANSONTHOMAS RANSON, transon@lahontanvalleynews.com October 17, 2005 Print Email RENO - Wolf Pack fans missed another great football game Saturday afternoon.A strong defensive performance gave Nevada the 37-27 league win over Louisiana Tech to put the Pack in first place with a 3-0 mark. The attendance woes continued at Mackay Stadium. The band seemed bigger than the student section in the north end zone before the announced paid attendance of 8,377, the lowest for a game at Mackay since 1984 when the Pack played in Division II. Nevada coach Chris Ault has said people will start coming once Nevada proves itself as a winning football team. The attendance problems, though, occur not only at Mackay Stadium. The volleyball team, for example, has also had difficulty filling its 1,800-seat facility.The largest crowd this season was 727 when the Lady Pack hosted Brigham Young in the first game of the season at the Virginia Street Gym.Nevada averages only 349 people per game while the average is up around 2,588 when they travel on the road.
