Cordero Scholarship Established at Gaston College - The Lincoln Tribune
Dallas, NC - Family and friends of Britt DeAnna Cordero have established an endowed scholarship in her memory following her tragic death in a motorcycle accident on March 19, 2004. Cordero, who friends describe as fun-loving and full of life, graduated from East Gaston High School in 2000 and received an Associate of Science degree from Gaston College in 2003 where she was on the Dean's List. “Britt loved Gaston College and blossomed under the guidance of faculty there, so it was a perfect place to remember her with a scholarship,” comments her mother, Kari Lamich. “Earning a Bachelor's degree was important to Britt, and at the time of her death, she was enrolled at UNC-Charlotte, pursuing a degree in business.”The Britt Deanna Cordero Scholarship is awarded to a graduate of East Gaston High School who does not qualify for a Federal Pell grant. Daniel Wesley Philemon of Mount Holly has received the first award from this scholarship. He is a 2005 graduate of East Gaston High School where he was a member of the marching band, the cross country team, and active in Boy Scouts of America.
