Morningside College donates health kits, cash to hurricane relief ... - Sioux City Journal
Morningside College's Buckets for Relief program sent 125 health kits, $340 in cash donations and miscellaneous supplies to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) to be distributed to the victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.Kathy Olson, campus pastor and director of church relations, coordinated the efforts during September with students, faculty and staff.Each health kit contained a hand towel, washcloth, comb, nail clipper and file, a bath-size bar of soap, toothbrush, tube of toothpaste and six bandages. The kits, valued at $12 each, will be used to provide essential supplies to families displaced by the hurricanes. In addition to the health kits, the campus community collected and sent a number of additional supplies to UMCOR including disposable diapers, analgesics, deodorant, and personal hygiene items, to name a few.
