Reinventing NC's book festival - News & Observer
And now we might. As it enters its fourth incarnation, the North Carolina Literary Festival is getting a wondrous makeover. The most obvious change is the name. Signaling their preference for foot stomping over chin scratching, organizers have rechristened the event -- which will be centered at Duke University April 26-30 -- the North Carolina Festival of the Book (NCFB). "While building on the great success of the three previous festivals, we want to make it less academic and scholarly," explained Deborah Jakubs, university librarian and vice provost for Library Affairs at Duke University. "We want it to be more spontaneous, less predictable and more fun, and encourage more audience involvement in this celebration of writing and reading."
