TULSA, Okla. - The William Woods Owls almost overcame a 14-point halftime deficit Friday in suffering their first loss of the season at the Rhema Bible College Tournament. William Woods University (2-1) - which trailed 40-26 at halftime - was outscored 22-7 on second-chance points and also was outrebounded 47-31.Sophomore guard Stephanie Burger responded with a game-high 18 points to lead three players in double figures for the Owls. Sophomore forward Jessica Bonifield followed with 13 points and a team-high 12 rebounds, while senior guard Shanna Lonsberry had 11 points.William Woods, which committed 21 turnovers, shot 38 percent (19-of-50) as a team.Stenia Moore and Jennifer Davison scored 14 points apiece to guide Rose State College, while Tabitha Jordan contributed 10. The Lady Raiders - who had 22 turnovers - shot 41 percent (27-of-66) from the field.The Owls finished tournament play Saturday night against host Rhema Bible. Results were not available at press time.William Woods plays in the Georgetown (Ky.) College Tournament on Nov. 18-19.
