Entertainment Calendar - Charlotte Observer
LENOIR-RHYNE CONCERT BAND: 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17, P.E. Monroe Auditorium, Lenoir-Rhyne College, Hickory. Featuring saxophone soloist Paul Bro and composer Kevin Townsend, an L-R alumnus. Bro has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Japan, Russia, Spain, Tiawan, Austria, France, Germany and Italy. Townsend will premier one of his own compositions, "Rhapsodic Fantasy," during the program. He is director of bands at Cranberry Middle School and associate band director at Avery County High School. He has written many compositions, including marches, concert works and compositions and arrangements for small ensemble. The 65-member concert band will also perform. Free.
