Record Number of Industry and Academic Researchers Gather to ... - Genetic Engineering News
The Greater Philadelphia Bioinformatics Alliance (GPBA) is a consortium of regional research and academic organizations dedicated to advancing the field of bioinformatics, the integration of biology and advanced computation sciences that is revolutionizing life science research and holds the promise for significantly improved healthcare. GPBA has secured over $4 million in grants and other commitments from U.S. Department of Education, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and BioAdvance, The Biotechnology Greenhouse of Southeastern Pennsylvania, to fund regional bioinformatics initiatives. Founding members include BioAdvance, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Drexel University, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Penn State Great Valley, Temple University, Thomas Jefferson University, University of Pennsylvania, University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, and The Wistar Institute.
