The St. Johns River Community College volleyball cancelled a weekend trip to Spartanburg, S.C., after the Spartanburg Methodist coach was unable to line up enough opponents for the Vikings.It might be just as well.“She could not get enough matches for us to go and we could not justify the expense and the $1,200 hotel bill,” SJRCC coach Pappas said Monday, “so we decided to take the weekend off, especially with the week we’ve got ahead of us.”The week ahead includes home matches with Lake-Sumter tonight and Florida CC-Jacksonville Wednesday, a match at Broward Thursday then the Miami-Dade tournament on the weekend.And never has “first things first” meant more to St. Johns than it means this week.
