YORK WOMEN FALL IN SOCCER: The York College women's soccer squad began their two-match North Carolina trip with a 2-1 loss at Methodist College on Saturday. The Spartans fell to 9-4-2, while the Monarchs improved to 4-9-1. Emily Sullivan scored for York off an assist from Kennard-Dale High graduate Jill Stanley. TENNIS ANDREEV, PIERCE WIN KREMLIN CUP TITLES: Igor Andreev won a title for the first time in his home country, overcoming leg and feet problems yesterday to beat Nicolas Kiefer of Germany 5-7, 7-6 (3), 6-2 in the Kremlin Cup final. Mary Pierce won the women's event for her second Kremlin Cup title, a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Francesca Schiavone of Italy. Pierce, who also captured this tournament in 1998, will climb to a No. 5 ranking for the first time in five years.
