Bush Enlists Texas Justices to Back Miers - New York Times (subscription)
By tonight, Ms. Miers will have met with 18 senators, according to the White House spokesman, Scott McClellan. Mr. McClellan today dismissed any suggestion that bringing the Texas justices to the capital was meant to shift attention from the nominee's evangelical Christian faith, a subject that was injected into the debate last week by President Bush in what was widely seen as an attempt to soothe conservatives.
