STATE SPORTS BRIEFS - Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (subscription)
Malzhan guest speaker at Touchdown Club Springdale High School Coach Gus Malzahn, whose undefeated team is ranked No. 10 in the nation by USA Today and first in the state by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, will be the guest speaker at today’s Little Rock Touchdown Club meeting at the Embassy Suites hotel. The program also will include a review of Saturday’s Arkansas-Auburn game as well as other SEC and national games of significance, along with Arkansas colleges and high schools. A buffet lunch will be served from 11:15 a.m. to noon, with the program from noon to 1 p.m. Members and nonmembers are welcome. SOCCER Lady Razorbacks stop Crimson Tide Freshman Abbey Wilburn scored her first career goal and added an assist as the Arkansas Lady Razorbacks beat Alabama 2-1 Sunday in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Alabama (7-6-2, 1-5-2 SEC) took a 1-0 lead when Annie Collins onetouched a shot off a free kick into an open net. Arkansas (5-10, 2-6 ) tied it at 1 in the first half on Wilburn’s goal off a free kick from Whitney Allison.
