Attendees come from Manhattan, from Europe, from across the U.S. They're a little fatigued from recently wrapped film festivals in Toronto and New York and are gazing ahead to the rigors of the American Film Market in Santa Monica. Yet, they drive two hours or more across expressways that narrow into single-lane, often backed-up roadways, passing vegetable stands and Colonial homes selling antiques on the way toward their destination: the Eastern tip of Long Island. When they arrive, their senses immediately take in the salt air brewing with popcorn butter. This is the 13th annual Hamptons International Film Festival, running Wednesday-Sunday, a gathering that will attract more than 15,000 attendees and screen 177 films (including 27 world premieres, with Fox Searchlight's "Bee Season" opening and Paramount's "The Weather Man" closing the fest) over the extended weekend.
