Ripon football eyeing conference - Oshkosh Northwestern
After struggling through a 4-5 season a year ago, the Ripon College football team set its goal on turning around those fortunes. Through the first half of this season, they have done just that. In fact, they are now poised to make a nice run in the Midwest Conference race. At 4-2, the Red Hawks have already played the meat of their schedule. Their losses — 48-34 to Monmouth and 42-13 to Carroll College — came to the top two teams in the conference. Although they will have a formidable task at hand this week against St. Norbert, Ripon is looking to finish strong. “I’m pleased with where we’re at,” Ripon coach Ron Ernst said. “A lot of teams in America would like to be 4-2. The two losses were disappointing, but after each one of those losses our kids responded well and came back. I think right now we’re playing pretty good football.” And Ernst is set to make history as well.
