Dehamer sets mark for shutouts - Mankato Free Press
The Minnesota State University women’s soccer team continued its record-setting run with another shutout Sunday, downing St. Cloud State 2-0 in a North Central Conference matchup.The Mavericks outshot the Huskies 26-5 en route to their seventh straight shutout and ninth straight win. The NCC triumph keeps MSU atop the league standings at 8-0-0.Minnesota State was able to get on the board early. Junior Lauren Peterson needed just 59 seconds to put her team on top, corner kick from midfielder Jeana Luedtke and depositing it into the back of the net.The game was a defensive battle for the remainder of the half with MSU allowing just two shots on goal. The second frame looked very much the same until MSU midfielder Gionni Diggs made it 2-0 at the 75:52 mark. Diggs was the recipient of passes from Luedtke and junior Natalie Mangold.Junior goalkeeper Jennie Dehamer improved to 9-3-0 and established an MSU single-season record with her seventh shutout. She supplanted Amanda Sommerfeld who earned six shutouts in 1996.Dehamer now has nine total shutouts, which ranks her third on the MSU career charts.
