St. Lucie County school digest: October 16 - Stuart News (subscription)
Village Green Elementary School would like to thank everyone who supported our annual PTO fundraiser, B.J's enrollment and the Hurricane Katrina district wide support drive. V.G.E.'s chorus will open the Nov. 8th School Board Meeting leading with the Pledge to the Flag and performing several musical selections at the St. Lucie County School Board room at 6 p.m. Our School Resource Officer (Cherie Lucas) has been selected to help implement the RAD (Resisting Aggression Defensively) Kids Program here at V.G.E. We are the only school implementing this safety initiative. We hope through piloting this endeavor that every child will eventually be equipped with safety skills to help avoid abduction. Nov. 4 will be our annual Walk-A-Thon sponsored by the P.E. Department. Flyers with more information will come home in the students' Tuesday folders. This month kindergarten classes will be taking their first field trip! They will visit the pumpkin patch and go to the park for lunch. They will learn about planting pumpkins and do many activities with pumpkins. They will also learn about spiders and bats. The first grade children enjoyed learning about Johnny Appleseed and making delicious apple dishes. At the end of October they will be going - more available
