Night owls - dirt
While Keehn and LaFavor cite money as the main reason for choosing to work nights, according to a June 2000 report by the U.S. Department of Labor, only 6.1 percent of all wage or salary workers claim better pay as a reason for working alternative shifts. In May 2004, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that 21 percent of workers chose to work night shifts for personal preference and 15.9 percent said the night shift accommodated their family or child care.
