But while Eastwood was snubbed by the Academy last year, at least he has awards to his name, receiving both Best Picture and Directing for "Unforgiven" (1992). Martin Scorsese, on the other hand, has become something of an industry talking point: why does the Academy keep snubbing him? He has been nominated for a Directing award four times, a low number for such a prolific director (and fans wonder why he was not nominated for "Taxi Driver" or "The Color of Money"). Also, he has been nominated twice for a Writing award. Six nominations, no wins.
