Relay for Life teams needed - Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal
Want to help find a cure for cancer? Then gather your friends and family, put on your walking shoes and join in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, the nation’s largest fund raiser.This year’s Itawamba Relay for Life will be held Friday, April 7, at Itawamba Community College. The next team captains’ meeting will be Thursday, Feb. 16, at 5 p.m. at the ICDC. Anyone interested in forming a team may attend this meeting. For more information, contact team recruiter Karen McFerrin at 282-4646 or American Cancer Society representative Cindy McNair at 844-8544 ext. 224. A meeting of the Relay for Life committee will follow the team captains’ meeting.During Relay for Life, participants walk around a track in celebration of cancer survivorship. Participants enjoy a night of fun-filled activities and share the spirit of uniting in the war against this disease. Teams can show their enthusiasm by creating outrageous themes and decorating campsites. This year’s theme is “Blast from the Past.”Money raised from the event benefits valuable cancer research, advocacy and patient services.
