Unqualified support, opposition for Corkins - Kansas.com
I see the Eagle is blasting Corkins $140K salary while Winston Brook's 8.26% pay hike for a much higher salary level was buried at the end of an yesterday's article about the Harding vacancy on the Wichita school board. Ditto for the 8.26% pay hike for all the educrats working for Winston. Winston will be getting a pay package that is about 40% larger than Corkins but that's not mentioned either. What a disgrace. I don't recall the Eagle ever publishing concerning the fact that the top paid educrat in this state is KU chancellor's Bob Hemenway's $307k total salary package this year. That was raised again earlier this summer and he gets a free mansion to live in too! What hypocrisy by the Eagle over pay! Of course, Hemenway, Brooks, and the rest of the government school establishment operate out of the "mainstream" liberal play book so salaries don't touch them or get third tier news coverage. If Corkins got paid the equivalent of what the average superintendent in Kansas got paid (that's what I would recommend to him if he asked me concerning the salary for his position), I would not be surprised if he got a sizable - more available
